ABOUT JAMES DAWSON FURNITURE

How I work
Personal contact and service are the keys to achieving the best results with any furniture commission. It’s an area I regard as top priority and in which I try to excel.

At the initial meeting, the essential details of each project are determined: style, choice of material, finish, timing and some idea of the budget envisaged. You are then provided with a design sketch along with an estimate of the cost. Any changes can be incorporated at this stage. I always work very closely with clients, to ensure we are in complete understanding at every point and nothing gets lost in translation.

Working with your architects and designers
Furniture is often part of a larger project for your home or commercial property. I am experienced in working with architects and designers to deliver classic free-standing or built-in furniture.

About James Dawson
After a career in international book publishing, I set up my furniture making business in 2005. I was taught the art of cabinet making many years ago. The business has grown steadily and has an expanding list of clients, many of whom return from time to time with new commissions. Most of my business comes through word-of-mouth recommendations.

I believe in simple design lines; using sustainable, locally sourced, high quality English hardwoods; and traditional methods and craftsmanship. These principles result in individual work which is as timeless as it is full of character.
