Wood finishes
Wood looks great in its natural state and colour, but for practical reasons and protection it needs a finish. There’s a choice of wood colours and a traditional or modern finish.
- Colour The wood can be finished in its natural colour, or stained to a darker or different colour.
- Traditional finish After careful sanding, the furniture is sealed to preserve its integrity and to give a smooth surface. It’s then polished with natural beeswax or a similar traditional polish, to give a deep lustre and a marvellous smell. This finish will develop lots of character over time.
- Modern finish For a tougher, virtually wipe-clean finish, a sprayed on lacquer is the answer. This provides a lustre similar to wax, whilst being far more robust and tolerant to heat and moisture. For the beeswax smell, a coat of polish can be applied too, but you’ll need to re-polish regularly
